UT!

In heavy rotation:
the 1988 re-release
by the great unheralded
band UT
"In Gut's House" (i-tunes!)
the song: "Evangelist"

"going down down
to the marketplace
going to learn to lie
like an evangelist...
gonna stub a cigarette
out in front of some dog."

All women in the band
prickly guitars with
meaty swirling swing
perfect for walking around
the song provides a heart rush swell
every time those
opening chords start.

Thank you UT!

yeah its stub of course
stub a cigarette out in front of some dog

i had an invention overtake me playing off your stuff
not having listened to it recently
but the mishearings of the imagination are cool
stuff, snuff, stub, rub....

so the lyrics are:

going down down to the market place
going to learn to lie like an evangelist

a robbed doormat out on the town
gonna stub a cigarette out in front of some dog

and the sugar coming after
tie your string to the pursuit of that thing

going down down to the market place
going to learn to lie like an evangelist

do you have the early version of safe burning that was was conspicuously left off the reissue of In Gut's House (along with two other tracks)?

No I don't have Safe Burning on my reissued version of G.H. I, ironically, lost the vinyl version in a fire in '03.

Were you in UT?

If you have versions laying around I'd be willing to barter, etc.
